Why We’re Moving Away from Facebook for Member Communication

At BMJJA, we’re always looking for ways to improve how we connect with our members. To create a better, more secure experience, we’ve built our own app and communication platform. With this change, we will be closing our family social page on Facebook. Our business page will remain for public updates, but all member discussions, class updates, and academy news will now take place in a dedicated space designed specifically for our community. This move is driven by the need for better privacy, reliability, and focus. Facebook’s algorithm decides what content is shown, often burying important updates under ads and irrelevant posts.

Many members miss announcements simply because Facebook doesn’t prioritise them. Our new platform eliminates this issue, ensuring that all academy news reaches members directly, without interference or distractions.

Social media is also built for engagement, not for focus. Facebook constantly pushes notifications, external content, and advertisements, making it easy to get caught up in endless scrolling instead of staying connected to what matters. By shifting to our own system, we create a distraction-free space where members can engage meaningfully, ask questions, and stay informed about training and events without unrelated interruptions.

Not all members use Facebook, and relying on it for communication excludes those who prefer not to have an account. Our new platform ensures equal access for everyone, regardless of social media preferences. It also provides a more secure space, free from data tracking, targeted ads, and algorithm-driven content. Conversations remain private, and our community stays within the academy rather than being scattered across a corporate social media network.

Our family social page on Facebook will close soon, and all internal communication will now take place on our own platform. The business page will remain active for public announcements, while our new system will be the best place for members to stay updated and engaged with the academy. If you haven’t joined yet, we encourage you to do so to stay connected.
