I have been training at BMJJA for about 2 years with prof Doa. It can be intimidating attending something new, especially a contact martial art for the first time, (it was for me), but Doa and all the students are very friendly and welcoming. It’s great cardio, fun and really helps breaking up the working week with something to look forward to after work. Over time you’ll quickly learn new skills and progress as you pick up different aspects of the sport. There’s always something new to learn in bjj which keeps it interesting. BMJJA is a fantastic academy. The training areas are spacious, modern and extremely well maintained, with top-quality facilities. I have been attending BMJJA for a few months now and I am loving the experience. Professor Doa, James, Scott and all the instructors show such care and passion in their teaching which makes the classes so enjoyable. My 9 year old has been attending BMJJA for 8 months. Professor Doa is fantastic with kids of all ages and personalities. He’s kind, supportive, and compassionate - always encouraging and building their confidence. He creates an environment where kids feel comfortable to try new things and persevere through challenges, and the more experienced students naturally model the expectations which helps new students learn and settle in. He keeps things fun and finds creative ways to keep the kids engaged, they spend most of the class with the biggest smiles on their faces. There’s no wasted time, class sizes are just right, and the community he’s built is kind and welcoming. I recently attended a seminar at Blue Mountains Jiu Jitsu Academy with Priit Mihkelson, and it was such a great experience! It’s awesome that the club hosted someone like Priit— it was a rare chance to learn from him, I really enjoyed this fresh perspective on learning jiu-jitsu. The gym itself is fantastic. It’s a beautiful space, super clean, well looked after, and has everything you’d want in a gym, from adults right through to kids/families. Fantastic Brazilian jiu-jitsu academy based in Springwood. The coaching staff are friendly, attentive and highly experienced. Professor Doa and the other trainers provide high quality instruction, in a safe and fun environment.
