Doa began his jiu-jitsu journey at the age of 39, seeking an activity to share with his growing family. He started training at the Blue Mountains Martial Arts Centre (BMMAC) in 2009. Demonstrating dedication and skill, he established his martial arts school under SJJA in 2017 and earned his black belt from Prof. Bruno Alves in 2021. In 2023, Doa chose to operate independently, now leading the Blue Mountains Jiu Jitsu Academy.

Originally from Türkiye, with formative years spent in Sweden, Doa has always been active in sports like basketball, table tennis, and water polo. He studied philosophy, sociology, and computer technology at Middle East Technical University and Bilkent University.

After moving to Australia in 1995, Doa completed his BA in Communication at Western Sydney University, focusing on English Text and Writing and Media Production. He ventured into the arts by founding ‘Screaming Theatre’ and co-founding CarnivalAskew, engaging in theatre production, film scripting, and filmmaking.
