Cass Hay - Coach (MMA, BJJ)

Cassandra Hay

Cass began her martial arts journey at a much later age than most, first stepping into a muay thai gym in 2016. It took a few years, many false starts, a couple of different gyms (and eventually a pandemic) for her to find consistency, and with that, a love of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts.

For the past five years, Cass has been an active competitor and coach across the Muay Thai, BJJ and MMA disciplines, travelling to Uzbekistan, New Zealand, French Polynesia, and interstate to represent herself, her team and Australia. As an athlete, she continues to embrace the personal growth and technical development that martial arts provides, and is (still) excited about the journey!

As a coach, she is passionate about sharing her knowledge and experience, and working with others to develop their own strengths and style. Believing in the importance of strong foundations and conceptual knowledge, Cass knows first hand the value of martial arts as a vehicle for personal expression and loves nothing more than supporting others’ growth in the sport. For the past three years she has focused on coaching kids, youth and women, and is equally comfortable coaching double leg takedowns to a full class, or coaching an athlete from the corner in a cagefight.

Recently relocating to the Blue Mountains to study outdoor leadership, Cass can often be found at BMJJA developing both her BJJ and her chess game, exploring the national parks with her overnight pack, or more recently, her rock climbing gear, and planning her next adventure.
