(Q) I’m new, what do I need to bring with me?
(A) Please bring a water bottle and slides, thongs or sandals. 

(Q) What should I wear?
(A) Ideally if you have your own Gi bring it along. If not loose fitting clothes. We have a limited number of spare Gi’s available for new members

(Q) What should I do to prepare for a class?
(A) We ask all participants to ensure they have short fingernails and toenails for safety. We do our best to provide a clean gym and ask that participants have clean feet prior to commencing a class.

(Q) I’m Injured can I still do Jiu Jitsu?
(A) Depends on the nature of the injury. You can still train with minor injuries: let the instructor know about injuries before the start of the class so they can tailor the training to your abilities. If your unsure ask your medical professional beforehand.

(Q) What should I expect when attending for the first time?
(A) Our classes are 1 hour long  for adults and 45 minutes for children. The class is broken down into 3 parts: A warmup session, working on technique, and then wrestling towards the end of class.    

(Q) What age is suitable for children to start?
(A) 4 years old.

(Q) Is Jiu Jitsu suitable for women and girls?
(A) YES! SJJA is a safe and welcoming environment. We have general classes as well as women only classes. As a member you can attend both.

(Q) Am I too old?
(A) No. We have students from all age groups.
